Removing your information from Google results
Updated September 2026 · 5 min read
Google will remove search results that show your personal contact information, and results that dox you, if you ask. But removing a result from Google does not delete the page it points to. To make it stick, remove the information at the source too.
What Google will remove
- Results that show your personal contact details: home address, phone number or email.
- Doxxing: your personal information shared alongside threats or calls to harass you.
- Other sensitive information covered by Google's policies, such as login credentials.
- Google will not remove information it considers valuable to the public, such as news articles or official records.
How to ask
- Open "Results about you" from your Google account or the Google app.
- Enter your name and the contact details you want to find. You can turn on alerts for new results.
- Review what it finds and request removal of each result that shows your details.
- For results the tool does not cover, use Google's removal request form and include the page addresses.
Remove the source too
A removed result can come back if the page still exists, or the same details can appear on a different site. Most personal details in search results come from people-search and data broker sites. Opting out of those sites removes the information at the source.

Does removing a Google result delete the page?
No. It only hides the result in Google Search. The page stays online until the website removes it.
Can Google remove a bad review or news article about me?
Usually not. Google removes personal contact information and content covered by its policies, not information it considers valuable to the public.
